I wrote this a few years ago in 2022. Now, with spring baseball on deck, I have decided to unleash this blog that was scratched in pen on a scorecard and buried on my desk.
Not gonna lie, Yankee baseball gives me the goosebumps. Raised as a Yankee fan, there is nothing more astounding than home runs and World Series rings in the crisp, clean autumn air. But, more sigificantly, the Yankee post season pops up fond memories for me. I reminisce on the beginning of the Derek Jeter dynasty as I partook to the television in Cortland, NY. Posted up while out of town for business, my friend and comrade Big Kev and I would find time after our workday to park ourselves at the Dark Horse Tavern in Cortland. A game of pool, a pint of the finest and the Yanks in the playoffs on the television above the wooden bar. I will forever remember these moments like a Derek Jeter liner into dead center to score a run, game changing moments. In these moments, I was growing my mental maturity and am fortunate to have Big Kev who kept me humble. Also, I started dating my wife at the beginning of the Jeter Era. This happy time of my life has been duplicated time and time again as I grow in age, the foundation was laid in Cortland all the while the Yanks slammed dingers and put rings on their fingers. A Jeter game winning hit in Yankee stadium and the ensuing bedlam and pandemonium will forever put a smile to my face. A feeling that foerever parks itself in my upper deck.
