Slowly, steadily sipping a lidless styrofoam cup of South Hill, VA truck stop coffee. Behind the wheel while my comrades are fast asleep in the passenger seats. One of my dream drives is along I-85. I thrive and strive as the sunlight flickers through the pines. Sunlight strobing in and out of the trees, the traffic toward Richmond is bustling like bees. The thoughts of enduring and those on the fringe, endear themselves inside my vibe on this drive. The Southside, VA Piedmont, red coated soil speaks volumes to the toils. The labor forces that are now distant in the history books, the sharecroppers who lived in shacks by train tracks. Now, the migrant force that breaks their backs to bring food to our plates, no matter the date, the times still take the same forms. But, with different players and mover and shakers and rolling down 85, the power of labor is always a necessary norm. Chris Brown on my playlist, Tappahannock, VA is on the map. R & B crooning + Warm Coffee, picks up the slack. I say it loud for the drivers in the back.
