The green army dude. Found himself in the same understanding as myself. Among the nature and the flow of freedom of trees and vegetation and everything alive. Pointing to the exit or the entrance, or somewhere in between. Maybe even pointing for his own refocusing. Adjusting his thoughts while no one is looking. His greenness beckons the solidarity of the unit because they are all green. However, I think about Uncle Tony and his story of Army life in the 1960's. As a Puerto Rican U.S. Army Sargent, when he traveled in the American South, he wasn't sure if he needed to sit in the "White" Only section or the "Colored" Only section of the train depot. Unimaginable at my point in this life. Hard to fathom, a true head scratcher. Down in the jungle, out in the field there is no time to segregate comrades. The draft during the Vietnam War did not have a color barrier. Not long ago, the most civilized cultures in the world still could not understand the critical learning experience of different points of view. This resonates in our society more than ever. I will always raise a pint of the finest ale in honor of Uncle Tony. He never lets go of the vigor of youthfulness: push up contests with my wife, Tequila shots all around, fresh thoughts on his horizon. Always a good listener. Forever in admiration. I took a pic of Phamous Uncle Tony and my wife a.k.a. "Melinda the Dime" while on vacay in the Florida Gulf. I love the picture. Youth is a mind state.
