World War II veteran. I know one story. In the hour of chaos, he persevered. Mettle, tried and true. I'm not sure if this was always his disposition or if it was born amidst the fires of witnessing war, but he wanted for all life to find its wings, take flight, be free. I learned that he gave help to the wildlife that came to the back door, injured or otherwise. He breathed a breath of freedom into natures lungs. I admire that sentiment. For myself, I find great honor and strength and a dismantling of inner demons in this compassion. I find it courageous to find a pathway that harms less and promotes life. A respect for well being, a caring that may only evolve through past conflict, coming out on the other side...changed. Reborn and moving mountains. Finding happiness as inner peace pushes out negativity and brings light to the darkness. Finding love in all sentient beings. Life worth living. Live and let live, by gones be by gones. Humbly respecting life, greedless. A heart that is filled with a thousand million candles of hope. He is all self made through his integrity. Never compromising the integrity for any circumstance. Outwardly displaying compassion through acts of kindness and loving thy neighbor, enjoying a tune on an old piano, holding parties in the basement. I am fortunate to have the story passed to me, I find comfort in the fortitude of enduring obstacles and seeking individual integrity at the finish line. Providing comfort to a hand in need.
