The Catch

I enjoy the imagery of taking a photograph and trying to place a story to the picture. Like this, for instance, although I don't have a story for this epic catch. Picture this, it's mid September in the baseball playoff spectacle. Who's gonna be Mr. October? Mr. November? Derek Jeter is the only Mr. November that I'm aware of. Upon his retirement, the door has been left ajar for a new phenom. I nominate the play of the day as this "over the railing" catch on the 18th Floor at the intersection of 94th St. and Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Maryland. As the pit beef fumes fled the exhaust fans at Bull on the Beach directly below, providing the Autumn air with all the aromatic trimmings of a true feast, the eyes never left sight of the baseball as it penetrated my glove. A glove that was purchased at Two Guys on Columbia Ave. in Lancaster, PA. A glove stamped with Jim "Catfich" Hunter's autograph. These pictures are out of left field but they are treasurable. After "The Catch", I retired to the condo for a cold can of suds...
