Rough Creek

Sunk and sagged down in a tributary to Cub Creek, I found a piece of the rock. Quartz looking, reddish glow. Posted up in the hollow in a tributary named Turkey Branch, outside of Rough Creek, VA. The topo map makes the union of Turkey Branch and Cub Creek seem like a soggy, boggy mess. No place for a 2 wheel drive vehicle. Charlotte County. This place, this time, this rock caught me in my thoughts. Good thoughts, positive thoughts, ageless thoughts. Like a breath of air, refreshing like a branch contributing to a creek. Like a natural flow, like serenity in the trickle. And when the F15's from Langley flow through the blue skies in practice maneuvers, I turn my attention to big things. This land, air and water of the Piedmont have a rock solid fortification in my subconscious.
