Nan's Nut Bowl

After an afternoon winter workout, I came in from the garage and had the need for protein. Our holiday nut bowl was still posted up on the kitchen counter and filled with nuts. I grabbed the nut cracker in my hand and mindlessly cracked nuts and ate them. One by one, I crushed them. Each nut gave me further focus. Like I was getting somewhere, onto something. I was reliving a memory. I floated over to the back door and stared at the bird feeder and ate nuts. My thoughts began to drift backwards to times of seeing this same nut bowl on my grandmother's dining room table during the Christmas season. It has style and my grandmother (Nan) knows how to entertain a party. (Maternal Grandmother)
